COMPOSITION

Contains per g:

Fosfomycin calcium                                         250     mg

Fructose 1.6 Diphosphate Tri-sodium          180     mg

 

DESCRIPTION

Fosfomycin (FOS) is a natural bactericidal broad-spectrum antibiotic which acts on proliferating bacteria by inhibiting cell wall and early murein/peptidoglycan synthesis. Fosfomycin is used for the treatment of infections caused by sensitive Gram positives and Gram negatives bacteria such as: Salmonella spp., E. coli, Pasteurella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Haemophilus spp., Klebsiella spp. and Pseudomonas spp.

Fructose 1.6-diphosphate is a fructose sugar very common in cells because of conversion of the main glucose and fructose acquired.

 

INDICATIONS

VETKOFOS WSP is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections in broilers caused by microorganisms susceptible to Fosfomycin. VETKOFOS WSP is indicated for the treatment of infections of the respiratory and digestive tract caused by E. coli and Salmonella spp., mycoplasmosis, C.R.D. complex, fowl cholera, infectious coryza, avian typhoid, staphylococcal infections.

 

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

Do not use in animals with severe impaired renal or hepatic function.

Do not use in hens laying eggs intended for human consumption.

 

SIDE EFFECTS

Sometimes a mild diarrhoea can be seen during or after treatment.

 

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

For oral administration in drinking water.

The recommended dosage level is of 160 mg per kg of body weight, approximately equivalent to:

Poultry (broilers):                     1,000 g per 1000 liters of drinking water, for 3 - 5 days.

For a correct dosage the required quantity should be calculated based on the body weight of animals and this should be determined with accuracy.

Medicated water should be used within 24 hours.

Meat                             : 7 days

 

STORAGE

Store in a dry and dark place between 8 °C and 25 °C.

Store in closed packing.

Keep medicine away from children.
