COMPOSITION
Contains per ml:
Trimethoprim 40 mg
Sulfamethoxazole 200 mg
DESCRIPTION
The combination of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) acts synergistic and used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections such as urine, respiratory, and intestinal infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, such as Actinomyces spp., Bacillus anthracis, Bordetella spp., Brucella spp., Clostridia spp., Corynebacterium spp., E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Klebsiella spp., Pasteurella spp., Proteus spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylococci, Streptococci and Campylobacter spp.
INDICATIONS
VETKOSULTRIM INJ. is indicated for gastrointestinal, respiratory, urinary tract infections, secondary bacterial infections, foot rot, mastitis, arthritis and phlegmonous caused by trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole sensitive microorganism in cattle, calves, sheep, goats, horses and pigs.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
Do not administer to animals with a severe impaired liver and/or renal function. Do not administer to animals hypersensitive to sulfonamides or trimethoprim. Do not use in animals with impaired hematopoietic systems.
SIDE EFFECTS
At the injection site, inflammatory reactions and necrosis may be observed at as a result of tissue irritation;
Anemia, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia can be observed.
In dogs, there is a risk of developing non-septic arthritis with the administration of certain trimethoprim sulfonamide combinations. Keratoconjunctivitis sicca in dogs.
INCOMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER DRUGS
Do not combine with other veterinary medicinal products.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
For intramuscular injection.
General dose : 1 ml per 10 kg – 15 kg bodyweight, twice daily, for 3-5 days.
Do not administer more than 20 ml per injection site.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
Meat : 12 days
Milk : 4 days
